Dorchester County reworks budget to benefit local schools
Dorchester County Council agreed to rework some projections Monday night to help cover Dorchester District Two’s $909,685 deficit.
The school district’s proposed budget is $202.3 million with projected revenues of $201.4 million.
Council Chairman Jay Byars said based on a review of actual revenues as of June 18, combined with the school district’s projected year-end revenues, staff recommended increasing various tax-related revenues by $1,165,946. A portion of this – $256,261 – was already included in the district’s budget, but not in the county’s ordinance.
