On Math Night in Cross, S.C., Cross Middle/High School families were surprised with personal laptops. Thanks to a collaboration between One Region’s Lead Agent for Infrastructure – Digital Equity, Lowcountry Digital Equity Coalition (LDEC), Palmetto Goodwill, the School, the Social Security Administration, Comcast and T-Mobile, 60 families gained not just laptops but also internet access. LDEC is piloting this program to provide tri-county Title 1 school students with quality laptops and internet access. Donated computers were refurbished by Palmetto Goodwill’s Power Up Computer Donation program, and distribution conducted at a school event marking a significant step in bridging the digital gap.
