The Lowcountry Digital Equity Coalition (LDEC), One Region’s Lead Agent for bridging the digital divide, was recently featured on Live 5 News for its efforts to expand internet access and technology education across the Tri-County region. Through its Digital Navigator program, LDEC has already supported 2,000 individuals in rural communities like Ravenel, Cross, and St. George—helping families gain essential digital skills, secure devices, and access online opportunities.
With an additional $50,000 in funding, the initiative is set to grow in 2025, further closing the technology gap for the nearly 200,000 South Carolina households without a computer. Alongside digital literacy training, the coalition’s partnership with Palmetto Goodwill is refurbishing and distributing laptops to students in need, ensuring no one is left behind in the digital age.
