One Region re|IGNITE

re|IGNITE, an effort led by One Region, seeks to provide guidance to businesses and employees on how and when to safely reopen businesses. The strategy leverages expertise from business, healthcare, nonprofit, and government sectors to create a coordinated, science-based approach to restoring the local economy.
Our region is strong, and we are confident that by working together we will emerge from this pandemic even stronger. As we continue our fight against a virus that spreads without regard to lines on a map, the leaders of the Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties are committed to acting as One Region.

FAQs

Launched in May 2016, One Region is a values-based strategy to build global competitiveness, prosperity and inclusion across our three-county region. Recently, elected officials approached One Region leadership and asked them to lead the creation and coordination of re|IGNITE. One Region will lead the effort to coordinate stakeholders to ensure that local expertise is leveraged to create a safe, pragmatic plan to reopen our economy.

re|IGNITE is the name of the strategy that will provide guidelines to business owners on how and when they can safely reopen their businesses. Informed by expertise from the business community, healthcare industry, and area nonprofit and government leaders, re|IGNITE is a science-based approach to restoring our local economy in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

The strategy is currently being drafted with input from business community, healthcare industry, area nonprofit leaders, and government officials. We expect the strategy to be released in the next two weeks.

One Region is working closely with the Governor’s office to ensure that re|IGNITE provides complementary details to the Governor’s plan. We want to give businesses and the general public confidence to know that we will have a locally tailored plan to meet the needs of the citizens and businesses of Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston counties, while adhering state guidelines and recommendations.

No. re|IGNITE is being co-written with experts from MUSC, Roper St. Francis and the Trident Health System. Our citizens’ safety is our top concern and number one priority as we look to reopen locally and safely.

re|IGNITE will have two components. The first will lay out the general strategy and principles used to develop guidelines to reopen businesses. The second component will be an industry-by-industry guide that provides best practices and directions on how specific businesses can reopen.
